If you had to pick one issue you have with eating healthy food what would it be? Does it cost to much to have organic fruits and vegetables in the house? Do you not like going to a grocery store and waiting in line for food that isn’t ripe yet? Well than, for all of you who have problems with getting and keeping enough fresh produce in the house I have the answer for you. Guess what time of the year it is, FARMERS MARKET SEASON!
The best part about produce from a local farmers market is that its locally grown, which means its picked at its peak ripeness, sold a few miles down the road, and typically at a very reduced price. So not only does it cost you less, it also typically taste better as it was picked when it was supposed to be picked, making it better tasting and more nutritious.
With just what I mentioned above how can you resist these great events, however there is even more. When you buy at a local farmers market, your supporting your local farmers in the area, and letting them know you appreciate there hard work and dedication to providing you with great tasting healthy food. Makes you feel better doesn’t it, supporting you local farmer down the road, instead of some huge corporation out of the state or country.
Another great bonus when dealing with these farmers is they are very good at cooking what they grow, so if your curious to try something new, who better to get pointers from than someone who cooks with them on a regular basis.
Spring always brings a fun time of year, everything is greening up, flowers are blooming, and we like to get outside for some fun. Find your local farmers market and go for a walk, you’ll love the atmosphere, and can’t beat the prices for great tasting health food.
